MIAA, BI, DOTr sign MoA to ease immigration queues at NAIA

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and Department of Transportation (DOTr) signed a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday to enhance passenger experience at Ninoy Aquino International Airport by addressing long immigration queues.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s order to ensure the comfort and convenience of passengers prompted this agreement, which aims to streamline airport processes.

Under the agreement, DOTr will authorize funding for BI to hire additional staff and cover overtime pay during peak hours, while MIAA will provide monthly financial support for these measures.

BI will render 24/7 immigration services at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3, providing a certified number of officers each month to ensure efficient movement and safety.

DOTr Senior Undersecretary Giovanni Lopez emphasized the importance of BI personnel in ensuring passenger safety and facilitating smooth travel, aligning with the President's promise to improve conditions for overseas Filipino workers, passengers, and international tourists.
