Medialdea taken to hospital for illness while visiting Duterte in The Hague

Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea was taken out of Scheveningen Prison in The Hague by an ambulance on Tuesday for medical assistance after he fell ill while visiting former President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court detention center.

At 9:51 AM local time (4:51 PM in Manila), Medialdea, who serves as counsel for Duterte, was placed on a stretcher and then transported inside the ambulance.

Medialdea is currently receiving medical treatment at a Dutch hospital after reportedly falling ill while registering at the reception counter around 8:55 AM local time.

A close relative of Medialdea is with him at the hospital, according to an update from the Philippine Embassy in The Netherlands.

The embassy official who was accompanying Medialdea called for medical attention when he fell ill.

Harry Roque stated that Medialdea had been scheduled to visit Duterte but it is unclear why he needed medical transport.
