Joy Belmonte wins Quezon City mayoral race

Incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte secured a decisive victory in her bid for a third term as Quezon City mayor on Tuesday, May 13, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Belmonte garnered over 1.03 million votes, significantly outpacing her four opponents who collectively received less than 50,000 votes.

Since taking office in 2019, Belmonte has gained popularity for championing progressive causes such as women's rights and LGBTQIA+ issues, as well as environmental advocacy.

Vice Mayor Gian Sotto was also proclaimed as vice mayor for his third term after receiving nearly one million votes.

Belmonte expressed her gratitude to Quezon City residents for their continued support and promised to double her efforts in delivering quality public service during her final term.
