QC distributes free masks, face shields to curb violations

Quezon City is distributing free masks and face shields to complement its intensified campaign against violators of the face mask ordinance.

From May 6 to 11, 825 individuals were arrested for not wearing or improperly wearing masks and face shields in public places.

About 7,600 people received warnings while 7,886 were fined; first offense carries a PHP300 fine, second offense PHP500, third offense PHP1,000.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government will exercise maximum tolerance by issuing ordinance violation receipts (OVRs) to those who cannot pay fines immediately but must still settle them eventually.
