Marilao Bridge repairs complete after truck accident

Major structural repairs on the Marilao Bridge have been completed as of Monday midnight by the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation.

A truck struck the bridge last week while traveling northbound along the Marilao Interchange, causing a beam to fall and hit an Asian utility vehicle (AUV), killing one person and injuring six others.

The NLEX has accelerated repair efforts following significant damage caused by a truck violating regulations, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing safety and traffic management on the expressway.

As of Monday morning, all four lanes of the Marilao Northbound have been passable to motorists after completing repairs.

Transportation Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon earlier directed the suspension of toll collection in the affected segment in Marilao area should there be sustained heavy traffic.

The victims' families have called for accountability from authorities, alleging negligence in infrastructure maintenance and traffic regulation.
