Marcy Teodoro proclaimed Marikina City's 1st District rep after residency issues resolved

Marcy Teodoro was proclaimed as Marikina City's First District representative on Tuesday afternoon, following delays and protests by his supporters.

Earlier in the day, Teodoro's supporters gathered outside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office to protest the delay of his proclamation by Marikina’s board of canvassers.

The Comelec en banc issued a certificate of finality lifting Teodoro's suspension of proclamation following the resolution of his residency issues last week.

Despite earlier delays, all members of the city board of canvassers convened at 1:30 pm to discuss Comelec's decision and subsequently proclaimed Teodoro as the representative-elect.

Teodoro is now taking his oath of office at Marikina Justice Hall, accompanied by his wife Maan and supporters.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia had previously stated that they cannot compel the board of canvassers to convene since it falls under their jurisdiction, requiring due process notices.
