Marcos vows to crack down on tax fraud during National Tax Campaign kickoff

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed on Tuesday to intensify efforts against tax fraud and hold those who exploit the system accountable during the kickoff of the 2025 National Tax Campaign.

Marcos emphasized the government's commitment to monitor public funds and ensure they are used for projects that benefit every Filipino, stressing the importance of honest contributions to national progress.

The President highlighted the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for its record-breaking collection in 2024, exceeding PHP2.85 trillion, and noted the agency's significant strides in cracking down on tax fraud through initiatives like 'Run After Fake Transactions,' which collected over PHP4.3 billion.

Marcos also called on the BIR to guarantee that all collections are channeled into programs serving the general public, underscoring the importance of digitalization and simplified processes for expanding the tax base.

During the event, Marcos assured the public of the government's dedication to fund national projects such as new schools, roads, and health facilities with taxpayer money responsibly, while also urging Filipinos to pay proper taxes and warning that those who exploit the system will face stern consequences.
