Marcos praises BOC for revenue collection, anti-smuggling efforts

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. praised the Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday during its 123rd founding anniversary despite past controversies.

Marcos highlighted that the BOC collected P931 billion in revenues in 2024, an increase from P890 billion in 2023 and used these funds for various development projects.

The President emphasized that the bureau seized over P85 billion worth of smuggled goods last year, nearly double the amount recorded in 2023, and de-accredited 56 importers and customs brokers involved in illegal activities.

Marcos also noted that since the beginning of his administration, the BOC has achieved a 96.99 percent digitalization rate by digitalizing 161 out of 166 customs processes to close gaps for corruption.

The President stressed the importance of fair law enforcement and total accountability among public servants, urging officials to prioritize the welfare of the people with honesty and care.
