Sonny Angara sworn in as DepEd secretary

Former Senator Sonny Angara took his oath as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s new secretary of education on Friday at Malacañang, officially marking the transition of leadership at the Department of Education (DepEd).

Vice President Sara Duterte's resignation from her position as head of DepEd took effect a month earlier and was formally completed during a turnover ceremony on Thursday.

President Marcos Jr. expressed optimism about Angara's appointment, noting their previous discussions regarding educational reforms and his confidence in Angara's ability to get things done.

Angara thanked the President for the opportunity to lead DepEd and emphasized his commitment to improving the education system, highlighting the importance of education for Filipino families.

The new secretary pledged close collaboration with the President to implement needed reforms in the coming days and months.
