Marcos promises PTV for each LGU by year-end

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured local government units (LGUs) on Wednesday that each of the 1,642 LGUs will receive at least one patient transport service vehicle (PTV) by the end of the year.

At a turnover ceremony in Manila, Marcos handed over 387 PTVs to LGUs in Luzon and announced plans to distribute an additional 985 vehicles nationwide this year, bringing the total to 1,552 units.

From January to July, 567 PTVs have been distributed across the country under the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP), which aims to provide essential medical transport for vulnerable communities.

Each vehicle is equipped with vital medical tools such as stretchers and oxygen tanks to ensure safe patient transportation, enabling front-line responders to stabilize patients before they reach hospitals.

Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez praised Marcos's commitment to strengthening the country's healthcare system by providing PTVs to all LGUs, noting that it is a 'lifeline extended to the farthest barangay.'

Romualdez emphasized that these vehicles are not just transport units but instruments of hope and survival for communities where medical access is often delayed or denied.

The PCSO allocated PHP2.2 billion in 2025 to procure 395 more PTVs for requesting LGUs and national government agencies, targeting distribution beginning in 2026.
