Marcos oversees P9B drug destruction, stresses transparency

On Wednesday, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos inspected and oversaw the destruction of confiscated illegal drugs worth over P9.48 billion during recent operations.

The 3,000 kilograms of seized drugs included suspected shabu packages found floating off the coasts of Zambales, Pangasinan, and Cagayan since early June, as well as marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy.

President Marcos emphasized the importance of ensuring that these drugs are thoroughly destroyed to prevent any substances from entering the black market again and stressed the need for transparent destruction methods.

Chemists from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) would remain on-site throughout the incineration process to test the ashes, with any remaining active elements being incinerated once more.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla and PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III were present during the inspection and destruction of drugs, as Marcos urged authorities to intensify efforts against small-scale dealers while upholding due process.
