Marcos directs DPWH to list flood control projects for audit

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., during his fourth State of the Nation Address on Monday, directed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit a list of flood control projects initiated since 2022.

Marcos expressed disappointment after inspecting areas affected by recent weather disturbances, noting substandard and collapsed infrastructure and vowed to sue government officials involved in corruption.

He called out corruption in project implementation, referring to kickbacks and misuse of public funds, urging those involved to be ashamed and promised an audit and performance review of all flood control structures.

The President instructed the DPWH to submit a list of projects for scrutiny which will be made public so that the people can freely scrutinize it and share what they know to aid in the investigation.

Benguet residents welcomed Marcos' SONA, particularly his order to go after those behind 'sloppy' flood control projects; Antonio Domesag hopes cases against unscrupulous officials are pursued.
