Marcos likens Omicron to flu; DOH backs claim

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. likened the Omicron variant to a flu on Tuesday, stating that while transmissible, it causes less severe cases compared to previous variants.

The DOH backed Marcos's statement on Wednesday, citing data showing only 3.09% of Omicron cases in the country from December 2021 to February 2022 were severe or critical, significantly lower than Delta and Alpha variant figures.
