Marcos Jr names Pato Gregorio as new PSC head

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. designated Patrick 'Pato' Gregorio as the new head of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), replacing Richard Bachmann.

Gregorio officially took over from Bachmann in a ceremony at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on Tuesday, expressing his commitment to enabling and inspiring national athletes.

Under Gregorio's leadership, the Philippines is set to host several international events this year, including the FIVB World Championship in September and the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup in November.

During Bachmann's tenure, which lasted almost three years, the country won two gold medals at the Paris Olympics and achieved its highest rankings in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games in over three decades.

Gregorio aims to boost sports tourism, improve local sports facilities, and create a National Championship for each of the National Sporting Associations (NSAs), while also focusing on digitalizing athletes' profiles and establishing a sports foundation similar to PDRF.
