Marcros Jr. inaugurates LRT-1 Cavite Extension

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inaugurated the first phase of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension Project in Parañaque City on Friday, November 15.

The project includes five new stations: Redemptorist-Aseana, MIA Road, PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos Station, all of which feature accessibility aids such as elevators, escalators, and tactile guides for passengers with special needs.

Phase 1 operations commenced on Saturday, November 16 at 5 a.m., and Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) reported that the top stations in terms of passenger volume were PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos Station.

The new extension added five stations to LRT-1's existing 20, reducing travel time from Parañaque City to Quezon City by almost an hour while servicing an additional 80,000 passengers daily to the current ridership of 323,000.

LRMC will implement the existing train service hours and fare structure for the entire line, with weekday operations starting at 4:30 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m., while weekend services begin at 5:00 a.m. and conclude at 9:30 p.m.

The maximum Single Journey Ticket fare for an end-to-end trip from Fernando Poe Jr. Station to Dr. Santos Station remains at P45, with Stored Value Card fares at P43.
