The First Lady provided help to Kris Aquino regarding travel-related matters as she undergoes treatment in the United States, and Liza is a distant relative of Josh and Bimby through her marriage to Don Pepe, Cory Aquino's eldest brother.

President Marcos noted that the visit reflects personal human interaction between their families despite political differences, highlighting historical ties dating back to university days at UP and fraternity membership in Upsilon Sigma Phi.

Both sides' patriarchs—Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Ninoy Aquino—shared similar backgrounds as members of UP's Senate and Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity.
