Marcos Jr. distributes PHP952.66M to El Niño-affected farmers, fisherfolk

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. distributed PHP952.66 million to farmers and fisherfolk affected by El Niño in Palawan, Marinduque, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and now the Ilocos Region.

In addition to previous distributions, he personally handed out PHP10,000 each to 60 beneficiaries from Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province at a ceremonial turnover in Apayao on Friday, and led the distribution of PHP186.7 million to 18,674 farmers and fisherfolk in the Ilocos Region.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed PHP10,000 each to 2,500 beneficiaries under the AKAP program in Palawan and Marinduque, while providing an additional P25 million to 2,500 beneficiaries in the Cordillera region, and also distributed PHP10,000 each to 4,600 beneficiaries under the AKAP program in the Ilocos Region.

Government agencies including the Department of Agriculture, National Irrigation Administration, DILG, DOLE, PCIC, and others extended aid through financial assistance, loan programs, irrigation projects, farming equipment, and shared service facilities, with a total allocation of PHP140 million for standby funds and stockpile for the Mimaropa Region to prepare for La Niña.
