Marcos distributes PHP157.95M aid to farmers, fisherfolk in Ilocos Norte

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of PHP157.95 million worth of assistance to farmers, fisherfolk, and livestock raisers in Ilocos Norte on Wednesday.

During a ceremony at Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Marcos handed over agricultural equipment, seeds, fertilizers, fuel subsidies, and solar-powered irrigation systems, emphasizing new technologies that aim to support recovery from recent calamities such as El Niño.

The President highlighted his administration's commitment to supporting Filipino farmers and fisherfolk, stressing their crucial role in national food security and economic growth.

Around PHP99.88 million of the assistance came from the Department of Agriculture, with the rest provided by the provincial government of Ilocos Norte.

Marcos also led the distribution of aid to 5,000 beneficiaries of the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) in Laoag City, emphasizing his government's continued support for those affected by El Niño.
