Marcos destroys P9.48B worth of drugs, advocates bloodless war on narcotics

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. led the destruction of P9.48 billion worth of dangerous drugs at Clean Leaf International Corporation in Tarlac province on Wednesday, emphasizing transparency and a 'bloodless' approach to anti-narcotics efforts.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla accompanied the president during the event where thermal decomposition was used to incinerate the drugs at 700 degrees Celsius over ten hours followed by twelve hours for cooling.

Marcos stressed the importance of ensuring that seized drugs are destroyed beyond recovery and resale, noting his administration's shift from former President Duterte’s campaign which resulted in over 6,000 deaths.

Among the drugs destroyed were 1,304.604 kilograms of methamphetamine (shabu) recovered by local fishermen off the waters of several northern Philippine provinces with an estimated value of P8.87 billion.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isagani Nerez stated that the destruction was in compliance with legal requirements and was conducted transparently to dispose of all illegal drugs as quickly as possible.
