Marcos appoints Escolango as DOH undersecretary

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has transferred Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSUDH) Undersecretary Randy Escolango to the Department of Health (DOH), according to Malacañang on Friday.

Escolango will replace former DOH undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, who resigned, as confirmed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin in a text message.

President Marcos signed Escolango's appointment paper on July 14, 2025, and Escolango took his oath of office for the new role on July 17, 2023.

Prior to his new role at the DOH, Escolango served as DSUDH’s undersecretary for administrative and finance services and previously worked as a labor undersecretary in Mindanao Regional Operations in 2022.

Escolango also held positions such as deputy insurance commissioner for legal services of the Philippine Insurance Commission from September 2017 to February 2022, and officer-in-charge administrator and deputy administrator for legal affairs at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority from May 2010 to 2017.

Before entering public service, Escolango was a private law practitioner at the Escolango Law Office from June 2002 to April 2010.
