MAP urges Senate to proceed with VP Duterte’s impeachment trial

The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) expressed deep concern over the Senate's decision to return the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte to the House of Representatives.

MAP emphasized that conducting an impeachment trial promptly is a constitutional duty and abandoning this responsibility undermines democratic processes.

The business group stressed that the issue transcends politics, focusing instead on good governance and the rule of law.

By allowing the trial to proceed, the Senate would affirm its commitment to transparency, accountability, and other principles of good governance, giving both prosecution and defense a fair chance.

MAP also highlighted potential economic impacts, warning that weakening legal institutions could harm investor confidence and job-generating investments.

The organization urged the Senate to uphold the rule of law, essential for safeguarding institutions and ensuring a stable environment for economic growth.
