Manila eyes mandatory masks amid COVID-19 uptick

Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna is considering reimposing mandatory mask-wearing due to a recent uptick in COVID-19 infections.

As of Monday, active infections were at 91, a 40% increase from the previous week.

Most cases involve asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic overseas Filipino workers and densely-populated Tondo area has seen the highest number of infections.

Lacuna noted that while the current numbers are not alarming, the city will closely monitor the situation for potential surges.
