Mangliwan finishes sixth in 100m T52 at Paris Paralympics

Wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan concluded his campaign at the Paris Paralympics after finishing sixth and last in his heat of the men's 100-meter T52 event on Thursday, September 5 (Friday, September 6, Manila time).

Mangliwan clocked 19.44 seconds, missing the final where only the top three from each of the two heats and the next two fastest advanced.

Despite securing an eighth-place finish in the men's 400-meter T52 event earlier in the Games, Mangliwan faced challenges due to a slow start in his heat.

Coaches Joel Deriada and Bernard Buen noted that better preparation would have been beneficial if it had rained during Mangliwan’s heats and finals.

Mangliwan is the fourth Filipino athlete to exit the Paralympics, following para swimmer Ernie Gawilan, para archer Agustina Bantiloc, and para taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin.
