Cebu jails report new coronavirus cases

On Saturday, April 25, Cebu City reported 63 new coronavirus cases, all from the city jail, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients there to 210.

The previous day, an inmate at Mandaue City Jail tested positive for the virus, marking the first case in that facility.

Health advocates are calling for the release of elderly and sickly prisoners to reduce infection risks among inmates with pre-existing conditions and to alleviate overcrowding.
