Govt work and classes suspended in Metro Manila due to TS Enteng

Government work and classes were suspended on Monday due to Tropical Storm Enteng (Yagi), with Metro Manila under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the suspension of government operations starting at 8:30 a.m., extending it until Tuesday, September 3, for both public and private schools in the National Capital Region and Calabarzon.

The Palace earlier suspended all levels of classes in Metro Manila, with Marikina River's water level reaching 16.8 meters, triggering a second alarm due to heavy rains since Sunday evening.

Enteng made landfall in Aurora province at 2 p.m., continuing northward over Cagayan Valley or northern Cordillera Administrative Region before turning west northwestward over the Babuyan Channel by Tuesday.

The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, while Malacañang extended the suspension until Tuesday due to Enteng's ongoing effects.
