Magnolia trades Navarro for Abueva, Balanza, NorthPort's 2nd-rounder

The Magnolia Hotshots have traded young big man William Navarro to the NorthPort Batang Pier in exchange for veteran forward Calvin Abueva, Jerrick Balanza, and their second-round draft pick from PBA Season 51.

Magnolia coach Chito Victolero described this move as one of the toughest decisions they've had to make, acknowledging Abueva's energy and dedication over the past four years while emphasizing the need to think about the future of the team.

Navarro, who averaged 20.6 points and 10.6 rebounds in NorthPort's games, will provide much-needed offense to Magnolia's young core of players including Zavier Lucero, Aris Dionisio, James Laput, Jerom Lastimosa, and Peter Alfaro.

The trade marks the second time Magnolia acquired young talent from NorthPort after securing Zavier Lucero during the offseason, with Navarro seen as someone who can bolster a squad currently leading the all-Filipino tournament at 7-1 record.

With the addition of Navarro, Magnolia aims to strengthen its team and remain competitive moving forward while balancing between experienced players like Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, and Ian Sangalang alongside young talents.
