Magnitude 5.9 quake strikes Sultan Kudarat, followed by three more

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Sultan Kudarat off the coast on Easter Sunday, April 20, affecting several parts of Mindanao.

PHIVOLCS reported that three additional quakes followed: a magnitude 5.1 quake at 12:50 AM in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat; a magnitude 5.4 earthquake at 1:37 AM also centered near Palimbang; and a magnitude 5.2 earthquake off the coast of Davao Occidental at 7:06 AM.

The initial quake was felt across multiple regions including Davao del Sur, Cotabato, and Zamboanga City with varying intensity levels from Intensity I to V.

Damage is expected in some areas following these quakes but PHIVOLCS said no major aftershocks were anticipated.
