Davao de Oro ends landslide retrieval, 98 bodies recovered

The Davao de Oro local government terminated retrieval efforts for survivors and bodies from the February 6 landslide in Masara village, Maco town, after a 15-day search on Thursday, February 22.

Local authorities reported recovering 98 bodies during the operation, with eight people still missing.

Maco Mayor Volter Rimando stated that retrieval and debris clearing had been completed across the entire landslide area following thorough assessment by the incident management team.

Mayor Rimando praised the responders for their bravery and dedication in challenging conditions.

A Catholic mass was held at the site to honor the disaster response team members who worked tirelessly during the incident.
