PBA game scuffle involves players, coaches

Magnolia forward Zav Lucero criticized Meralco veteran Cliff Hodge for a hard foul during their PBA Philippine Cup game on Wednesday, leading to a scuffle involving players and coaches from both teams.

Lucero called the incident 'dirty play' and expressed hope that the league will take action against such behavior, while Hodge defended his actions, stating he was trying to stop a fastbreak layup and claimed an assistant coach from Magnolia had headbutted him.

Despite the controversy, Magnolia defeated Meralco 117-92, maintaining their perfect record in the All-Filipino conference.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial is scheduled to summon those involved on Friday to explain their roles in the incident and may impose additional penalties.

The technical committee spent Thursday reviewing the tape of the skirmish, which occurred with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter, but did not confirm if only Hodge and Lucero will be asked to air their sides.
