LTFRB grants 753 special bus permits for All Saints' and All Souls' Day

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has granted special permits to 753 buses as it prepares for the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day observances, with additional permits expected.

Starting October 15, LTFRB began issuing these permits for long routes such as those to Bicol and Cagayan Valley, allowing buses to travel on routes that are not typically theirs.

LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III announced that personnel will be deployed to bus terminals to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and have all necessary documents, with plans to issue more permits if needed.

In addition, drivers' sobriety and vehicle conditions will be rigorously checked by LTFRB staff while on the roads, ensuring safe travel for passengers during the holiday season.

The agency has also received 700 additional applications for its modernization program since reopening registrations on October 15, extending the registration period until November 29.
