LPA nears PH, may cause rains Sunday

A low-pressure area (LPA) east-southeast of Mindanao may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday and could develop into a tropical cyclone named 'Bagyong Kabayan', bringing rains to Visayas and Mindanao starting Sunday.

The northeast monsoon is affecting parts of Luzon, while easterlies are impacting the rest of the country, causing partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo noted that the chance of the LPA becoming a typhoon within two days is still low.
