LP names Pangilinan, De Lima, Aquino as Senate bets

The Liberal Party (LP) named its initial candidates for the 2022 national elections during a National Executive Council meeting on Monday.

Senators Francis Pangilinan and Leila De Lima were nominated for reelection, with Pangilinan being an advocate of the agriculture sector and author of several key laws.

Former Senator Paolo Aquino IV was also nominated as a Senate candidate.

The party also listed Senator Risa Hontiveros and lawyer Chel Diokno as guest senatorial candidates aligned with LP's principles.

Vice President Leni Robredo, who chairs the LP, has full authority to initiate talks for a united national slate of candidates while respecting her preference on the elective position she may decide to run for.
