VP Sara Duterte's chief of staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez to resign amid trauma

Vice President Sara Duterte announced that her chief of staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez intends to resign after being detained at the House of Representatives and experiencing trauma.

Lopez expressed a desire to return home to take care of her mother once she completes her current duties with the Vice President, who has been accompanying her in hospital stays.

Duterte stated that Lopez is traumatized by recent events and has been experiencing nightmares, lack of appetite, and fear of being transferred to Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong.

Earlier, the House of Representatives ordered Lopez to be moved from St. Luke's Medical Center to Veterans Memorial Medical Center amid concerns raised over her detention conditions and alleged interference in ongoing investigations.

Lopez had been detained since Wednesday night after being cited in contempt due to evasive answers during hearings probing the Vice President’s alleged misuse of funds at the Office of the Vice President and DepEd, where Lopez served as chief.
