Go seeks 'Bayanihan' aid for provinces

Senator Bong Go has proposed providing a one-time 'Bayanihan' financial aid equivalent to half of a province’s one-month IRA to provincial local government units (PLGUs) to help them respond to the increasing needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go emphasized that PLGUs play a crucial role in managing provincial hospitals, which often handle patients first before they are transferred to other facilities.

The Department of Budget and Management is set to release PHP30.824 billion as recommended by Go based on LGU appeals, to help local government units cope with the economic impact of the pandemic.
