Classes suspended in Metro Manila and other areas due to heat

Face-to-face classes in several areas across the Philippines have been suspended on Thursday, May 9, 2024, due to extreme heat conditions.

Schools in Metro Manila and certain provinces are advised to shift to asynchronous classes or alternative learning methods, with some local government units suspending face-to-face classes as early as Wednesday, May 8.

In Pasay City, all levels of public and private schools remain suspended. Angeles City has also canceled face-to-face classes for both public and private schools.

Santa Rosa in Laguna has shifted to online or asynchronous mode for elementary to high school students until May 10, while Umingan in Pangasinan has restricted afternoon classes from pre-school to senior high school until May 31.

Private school authorities in areas without specified guidelines are left to decide on the suspension of face-to-face classes.
