LGUs request nat'l gov't to open cemeteries Oct 30-31

Local government units are requesting the national government to allow cemeteries to open on October 30 and 31 for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

The League of Provinces of the Philippines president Marinduque Governor Presibitero Velasco Jr. stated that many people would still visit cemeteries even with the closure, emphasizing adherence to health protocols.

Earlier, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) passed a resolution ordering all cemeteries in the country to be closed from October 29 to November 2 to minimize superspreader events during Undas.

The IATF guidelines allow visits before October 29 or after November 2 with limited groups of up to 10 persons and venue capacity at 30%, which can increase to 50% if authorized by local government units.
