Leptospirosis, dengue cases drop in Manila

The number of patients infected with leptospirosis and dengue in Manila decreased slightly over the past week, according to the Manila Public Information Office.

As of Aug. 15, there were 137 leptospirosis cases recorded, down from 141 a week earlier, while dengue cases fell to 132 from 152.

Of the total dengue cases, 103 are confirmed and 28 are currently hospitalized; one patient died at Sta. Ana Hospital.

For leptospirosis, 52 cases were confirmed with 56 patients still in hospitals and 29 fatalities recorded.

The city government advises residents wading through flooded areas to visit health centers for Doxycycline doses and urges communities to maintain cleanliness to prevent flooding and stagnant water.
