DOH expands leptospirosis fast lanes to 49 hospitals

The Department of Health (DOH) has increased the number of leptospirosis fast lanes from 27 to 49 hospitals nationwide in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive.

These designated areas streamline patient admission and treatment for suspected cases, providing quicker diagnosis, laboratory testing, antibiotic administration, and supportive care.

Despite a significant drop in daily new cases from around 200 per day to just 10 between August 10 and 14, the DOH assured that fast lanes remain operational nationwide.

From June 8 to August 14, 2025, the DOH logged a total of 3,752 leptospirosis cases.

The public is advised to seek consultation at these fast lanes or health centers if they have been exposed to floodwaters or mud during the rainy season.
