Paul Lee scores 14, first four-pointers by him and Banchero in PBA opener

Paul Lee of Magnolia experienced the impact of the newly implemented four-point line in their season opener against Meralco on Sunday.

Lee praised the new rule for adding excitement but emphasized the importance of making sound shot decisions, noting that a 10-point lead is no longer safe with just over a minute left.

Chris Banchero of Meralco made the first-ever four-point shot during the second quarter, while Lee also hit one early in the fourth to finish with 14 points.

Despite having a chance to tie or go ahead with a three-pointer or even a four-pointer when down by three late in the game, Glenn Robinson III missed his contested long bomb and Meralco sealed the win on Allen Durham's free throws.

Lee reiterated that Magnolia is not forcing four-point shots and will only take them if open, highlighting the need to balance excitement with strategic shot selection.
