Lawyer files vote-buying complaint against Rep Maan Teodoro with Comelec

Lawyer Christian Real has filed a vote-buying complaint with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against Marikina City 1st district representative and mayoral candidate Maan Teodoro.

The complaint, based on eight sworn affidavits from residents who received cash payouts during campaign events in various barangays, includes video and photographic evidence of alleged vote-buying activities.

Recipients were required to sign blank forms resembling those used by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) without DSWD officials present, while barangay employees and campaign leaders allegedly facilitated these distributions.

Campaign speeches promoting Teodoro's candidacy were delivered during these events, with claim stubs distributed afterward for claiming ₱2,000 cash assistance.

The Commission on Elections served Maan Teodoro a show cause order on Monday, May 5, asking her to explain the allegations of vote buying and abuse of state resources that occurred from April 28 to May 1 at various locations in Marikina.

Locations mentioned included Jehoshua Academy, Barangay Hall Complex and Action Center in Marikina Heights, Manotic Subdivision, Barangay Sto Niño basketball court, and Simeona basketball court.
