Lawmakers seek probe into De Lima hostage-taking

Makabayan bloc lawmakers at the House of Representatives sought a congressional inquiry into the hostage-taking incident involving former senator Leila de Lima by an inmate inside the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

Lawmakers, including Senator Risa Hontiveros, urged the PNP to investigate the incident and questioned why detainees were able to easily access De Lima's cell.

Hontiveros condemned the violence as 'unjust, barbaric, and despicable' and called for a thorough investigation by the PNP and Department of Justice.
