House: No impeachment plans for VP Duterte

House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo reiterated on Tuesday that there are no plans to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte.

Lawmakers urged Duterte on Wednesday to name whoever is telling her about impeachment discussions in the House, insisting that such talks do not exist.

Vice President Duterte had previously claimed she received information suggesting an impeachment plot against her, but Tulfo stressed there is no such plan and assured Speaker Martin Romulo also confirmed this.

House Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adiong said discussing potential impeachments is counterproductive and creates political disunity.

Budget deliberations for Duterte's office are ongoing in Congress, with assurances from the House that courtesies will be extended during these discussions.

Lawmakers believe linking a Commission on Audit (COA) report on confidential funds used by Duterte’s offices as grounds for impeachment complaints is premature.
