Lamangan, Lee plan Nora Aunor biopic 'Nora Aunor Story'

Renowned director Joel Lamangan and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee are planning a biopic about the life of late actress Nora Aunor, titled 'Nora Aunor Story', with production set to proceed.

Lamangan praised Aunor for her exceptional talent in bringing characters to life and emphasized how she treated everyone with kindness.

The director shared anecdotes illustrating Nora's generosity, including giving money to inmates at a Laguna jail after filming scenes for the biographical drama 'The Flor Contemplacion Story'.

Nora and Lamangan collaborated on six films including 'Muling Umawit ang Puso' and 'The Flor Contemplacion Story,' which won awards at the 19th Cairo International Film Festival.

Aunor passed away at 71 due to acute respiratory failure last Wednesday, April 16, with her wake held until Sunday at Heritage Park in Taguig.

Lamangan revealed that while initial talks for a biopic were underway before Aunor's death, production has been put on hold and will proceed once the right time arrives. Auditions to find an actress to portray Nora are expected to take place.

Her remains are currently open for public viewing until 4 p.m. today and will be interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Tuesday, April 22.
