Labita breaks 200m record, leads UP to athletics lead

UP sophomore Alhryan Labita broke another record on Thursday night by winning the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.42 seconds at the UAAP Season 86 athletics competition in Pasig City.

Labita's performance was faster than De La Salle's Ralph Soguilon's previous record set in Season 67, and he also defended his 100m title with a time of 10.57 seconds on Wednesday.

UP men's track and field team took the lead after Day 2 of the competition with 116 points, surpassing National University (NU) with 107 points.

Other notable performances included Clint Niño Neri winning gold in the long jump with a leap of 7.36 meters and Juliana Talaro securing another gold medal for UP in the women's 5000m walk.
