UP clinches top seed in UAAP men's basketball

University of the Philippines (UP) secured the top seed in the UAAP men's basketball tournament with a decisive 79-57 victory over National University on Sunday, November 19.

Coach Goldwin Monteverde attributed UP's success to consistent hard work and preparation throughout the season.

The win marks significant progress for UP under Coach Monteverde, who led them to their first championship after 36 years in Season 84.

UP will have a twice-to-beat advantage against their opponents in the playoffs, while National University finished third with a 10-4 record and needs to defeat Adamson twice to advance.

Francis Lopez and Malick Diouf were key contributors for UP, with Lopez scoring 13 points and three steals, and Diouf adding 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
