San Fernando City in La Union under GCQ until July 22

San Fernando City in La Union will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) from July 9 to 22.

The decision was made due to increasing COVID-19 cases, with 17 out of 59 barangays identified as high-risk areas.

Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto requested the reclassification from modified GCQ to GCQ on July 5.

Gualberto attributed rising cases to local transmission within households and workplaces.

The city will implement stringent limitations, establish checkpoints, close non-essential establishments, regulate operating industries, and impose curfews.
