De La Salle wins UAAP 3x3 men's title, UST repeats in women's

De La Salle University defended their title as the reigning champions of UAAP 3x3 basketball with a narrow 17-16 victory over the University of the East on Sunday.

CJ Austria, who was named Most Valuable Player, scored the crucial two-point basket that led De La Salle to the gold medal game.

Despite an early deficit, De La Salle rallied with key contributions from Jonnel Policarpio and Earl Abadam, overcoming a late surge by University of the East to clinch their second championship in UAAP Season 86 following their full court victory earlier this season.

University of Santo Tomas also secured back-to-back women's 3x3 titles with a 21-18 win over the NU Lady Bulldogs, mirroring their success in the full-court competition earlier in December.

Wello Lingolingo led University of the East with seven points and seven rebounds, but it was not enough to secure a gold medal for his team.
