DJ Kennedy's late surge helps Meralco beat Terrafirma

Meralco's import DJ Kennedy played a crucial role during their victory over Terrafirma in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday, stepping in for Akil Mitchell who was recovering from a broken nose.

Kennedy struggled initially with three points in the first half but improved significantly after halftime, contributing 32 points along with six rebounds and four assists to secure Meralco's win.

Coach Luigi Trillo emphasized the importance of flow for Kennedy, who had played only three games this year and is preparing for the East Asia Super League (EASL).

Despite almost squandering a sure victory due to Terrafirma's late-game push led by new import Brandon Edwards and Vic Manuel, Meralco managed to hold on with Jansen Rios hitting a crucial three-pointer.

Kennedy expressed his support for any decision the team makes regarding their import situation moving forward, highlighting his eagerness to play more while being supportive of whatever choice is made.

Meralco now boasts an unblemished 3-0 record heading into their next game against Blackwater on Thursday.
