Jervy Cruz scores 15 points as Basilan-Starhorse wins 60-57

Veteran Jervy Cruz scored five triples and led Basilan-Starhorse with 15 points in a narrow victory over La Salle, winning 60-57 at the start of the 3rd Gov. Ann K. Hofer Open Invitational Basketball Tournament on Monday, February 17.

Basilan-Starhorse's depth and poise helped them fend off La Salle's comeback attempts in a game filled with twists and turns.

The tournament serves as part of Basilan-Starhorse's preparation for the upcoming MPBL season.

With just seconds left, Jacob Cortez of La Salle made a triple to narrow the score to 60-57, but Kean Baclaan missed two potential shots that could have tied or won the game.

Renzo Navarro provided crucial defense against Baclaan's final shot attempt, securing Basilan-Starhorse's victory.

Cruz held his ground down low against younger, taller, and quicker La Salle players while Eman Calo tapped the ball out of bounds on a key possession late in the game.
