Japan may offer P13.3-B loan for PH vaccine program

Japan and the Philippines discussed an additional ¥30 billion loan, equivalent to about P13.3 billion, for the country's ongoing COVID-19 vaccination program during a meeting on Wednesday.

The proposed financing is part of Japan's second COVID-19 Crisis Response Support Loan (CCRESL 2) and would follow a previous ¥50-billion loan provided in July 2020 to support pandemic response efforts.

This additional funding aims to cover costs related to the national vaccination program, continuing Japan's financial support for medical equipment procurement and cold chain storage system development.
